2008 SBS Gayo Daejun "Festival S"

What can I say? "S" for "superb".

Wait 'til I get to Dong Bang's performance - major madness.

1ST STAGE: Super Rookie
(2AM, 2PM, SHINee, Davichi, Sunye [Wondergirls], Taeyeon [Girls Generation])

Weird samurai dance/???? should be scraped. 2AM sang "This Song" - electronica style. They even made this ballad-themed group dance! Poor them. Guess they wanted the opening performance to be more "high" and the original just didn't fit. Lousy way to squeeze all the newbies into one stage. <__<

2PM obvously performed "10 out of 10" and since SHINee is crowned the best newcomer of the year, they get more airtime and sang a medley of 3 songs. I like the first two (I think I've caught the "A.MI.GO!" disease). There was a particular move during "Amigo" that reminds me of Hwang Bo's "Get Hot". See for yourselves! (around 2:29)

After that, Davichi, together with Taeyeon and Sunye, sang Destiny's Child's "Stand Up For Love". For one, I dunno why Sunye and Taeyeon are still counted as rookie, and second, SBS should have made 2AM sing the original "This Song" here instead of coming up with some crappo electronic version! These girls' singing are good and their pronunciation isn't bad at all. Wish I saw more of Sunye!

Before the next stage, Chun Hee and Daesung MC-ed for a while and I can't help but realise how short Daesung is standing next to Chun Hee. I'm not gonna talk about the trot stage.

2ND STAGE: Sexy

(Jewelry, KARA, Brown Eyed Girls)

Finally - Jewelry!!! Kinda disappointed. They sound so tired! Seo In Young keep doing these unnecessary adlibs which ended disastriously. To add to the disaster, In Young wore some ugly pants - I know you're better than that! KARA: Not sexy with the bunny suits and "Pretty Girl". Reminds me of Girls Generation...not good. Brown Eyed Girls' performance was inaudible. All the girls came together at the end for a sexy dance showdown. On a side note, Jung Ah unnie, please please eat more! You look unhealthily skinny!

In the following MC segment, Park Ye Jin said something about Jung Ah which I have no freaking idea what. Then, Daesung and Chun Hee went to the performers' seats and interviewed a lost-looking Rain, WHO SEATS NEXT TO MICKY! But damnit, that guy ran off somewhere and all I see is his name on the chair. Coincidentally, Rain's hairstyle reminds me of Micky's recent instant noodles hairstyle in Japan. Next interview targets? Big Bang's TOP & G-Dragon and Kim Jong Kook. My god - what the heck's with your hair, G?!

3RD STAGE

(FT Island, Son Dam Bi, After School)

I wonder if FT Island write their own songs like L'Arc~En~Ciel? Well, nice first song - the rest were OK. Before Dam Bi's "Crazy" performance, there was a clip of her getting chased down and caught by the (WTH?) NYPD. What are they trying to imply? She's going crazy in jail?! LOL. I like her, though I think she should be an actress instead of a singer.

A new girl group, After School performs a while their song "Playgirlz", then it's back to "Michyeosso~".

MUSIC DRAMA

(Taeyeon, Yuri [GG] + Seungri, Daesung [BB])

I thought the drama would suck. Turns out it's kinda funny though! Many hit songs were played throughout the show - "Nobody", "U Go Girl", many others and of course, Dong Bang's "Mirotic"! Played at a really weird timing but when the song was played, *flaunting* the audience's screams were uber loud *flaunting*, they even cheered "Neon naruel wonhae" towards the end!

The plot's a love-rectangle in a cakery (new word! OMG!). Love the part where this weird beanie-wearing guy came in and started doing Dam Bi's "Crazy" chair dance - hilarious and, really crazy. When two 2PM's members cameo-ed, well, you can guess what song was played. Ultimate twist in the story's ending - the guys fall for each other! #@%@#$%@^%%&! WHAT THE!!!!! Hilarious all the same even though I totally do not understand what they are saying. Nice job!

Next up - what I've been waiting for!

4TH STAGE: Star Wars

(DBSK!!!!!, Super Junior-Happy, Big Bang, SHINee, 2PM, Wonderboys)

4.1 Piano battle -

OH FREAKING HELL!

Ahem. First to battle - Taeyang VS Junsu-sshi! My god, Junsu's smirk before Taeyang sang - charisma. OK, minus the Engrish, If you're up against Junsu, it's hard to win. Still, Taeyang did sing well. As for Junsu, his Engrish is perfect, but to make up for it, his singing is holy. His piano skills are surprising - I thought if anyone, Micky would have been the one up there showing off his greatest song ever "Foxrain", plus his English is better.

4.2 Dance battle -

OH FREAKING FREAKING HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Likes Eunhyuk's performance second-best. Yunho's - well, he wins by default! Saw moves from "The Way U Are", "Mirotic", "Are you a good girl?" and a DBSK-style bow. Although the solo's themeless, his moves are very "clean". Black is his colour, his outfit rocks, his fedora rocks, his dance is "Magic" and like Jung Ah, he needs to eat! EAT! YOU TWO! GO GET SOME FOOD TOGETHER!

4.3 Wonderboys -

This shouldn't be in Star Wars. I already hate "Kissing you", but here they go making it worse. Thank god DBSK's over the rookie stages and do not have to do this. Another thing, isn't Shin Dong's hair plain weird, like an ajumma?! The Wonderboys also sang "Nobody", which the Wonder Girls laughed at amusedly. In my case, I would have stared in horror and shook my head dissapprovingly.

And that was the (horrible) end to the first part of the Gayo Daejun. Man, they should have put the dance battle the last performance. Oh well, at least the second part is gonna rock!
